The Birds

In the first two pictures the crow has a nut or seed under it's right foot.

It tried it's beak for a bit and flew off with it, maybe looking for a better tool.
Looking for deer sheds following the Bambi highways like this well worn trail.
I like this narrow placement of hooves telling me it is a male, some known to have antlers

  1. Crows and eagles. Lots of personality to enjoy, there.

  2. Still frozen yet and even the eagles have ventured down to the water!

  3. Hi Steve - love the eagles ... and while out I saw woodpeckers pecking, as too deer munching - not happy as they scampered away ... lovely time of year - the greening has begun - cheers Hilary

  4. That is a lot of birds!
That looks quite a large nut or seed under the crow's right foot ... perhaps he managed to get it open elsewhere!

    All the best Jan

  6. So you can tell whether it's a male or female deer by hoof placement? Wow. I had no idea.

  8. Steve, as an avid Bald Eagle observer and nest monitor for 6 years, I love this. Although I cannot tell, did the pair have bands?...:)JP
