Sunday Stroll: A Few Birds And Lost Cat

Hairy Woodpecker
Here kitty kitty
Northern Cardinal

Frozen river
Flows silently
Under winters splendor.

Pileated Woodpecker silhouette. I have seen her twice this week, but hard to get close to.
Downy Woodpecker
Red-bellied Woodpecker
My first Purple Finch
Bluejay

I heard a too early spring chortle a Tufted Titmouse makes this last week. Maybe a youngster trying a new tune out. Hmmm how do I know this song?

Black-capped Chickadee
If it looks familiar I can keep it for a few days for you to pick up. It is not what I call lap cuddly, but is kind of cute in such a primitive way. One of the oldest marsupials in this area..

Visit Marcie the originator of Sunday Strolls. Her Quiet Country House in Michigan is always a treat to visit.

  10. I love possums. I've got a friend who's in wildlife rehab. One of her baby possums got to be bestfriends with her dog. It took the possum a long time to go back to the wilds but it finally did. They hadn't seen it for two years and then the dog died unexpectedly. After the dog was buried, that evening at sunset, they saw the possum at the grave.

  12. The silhouette of the pileated woodpecker is great. As for the possum, they are rather scary in tight quarters....when I was about 9, I had a cat that I would put in the basement at nightfall. One night, I could not get the cat to stay in the basement. On closer inspection, their was a possum in there! Dad to the rescue!
