Flying Friends

A Clouded Sulphur is the prize today. It is the only area I have seen them all summer.
I always find a favorite flower
Each day something new comes into view
Today I have found you.

Giant Swallowtail

This Common Skipper is the smallest found today.

Both a Black and Giant Swallowtail butterfly.
Common Skipper
I planted harvested seed from last year and didn't get as good luck as with new seed.

  1. You have the patience of Job. That has to be the way you get so many delightful butterfly pictures.

  2. It looks like you sit in a patch of flowers and wait for the butterflies to stop by. Nicely done.

  8. Love the zinnias and butterflies. haven't seen as many butterflies this year as last. no sulfurs at all, an occasional monarch and swallowtail. I usually plant the california giant zinnias but maybe next year I'll add some of the smaller ones.

  9. I have two butterflies that keep fighting. I would think there is some hanky panky going on, but they are two completely different species. The monarchs arrived this week.
