Who says Iowa is so flat? This is near to where I live, just over that hill there a bit.

Osprey chicks first flight. Not the best shots, my camera kept fogging over from the heat and being in my cool car. These towers at easily over 100 ft. tall so I told them to be careful, in a fatherly sort of way. I have watched them since they were hatched.

I have to stop at the feeders, just to see who is around.

Visit Marcie the originator of Sunday Strolls. Her Quiet Country House in Michigan is always a treat to visit.

  1. Love the birds and blooms! The barn swallows are especially cute! Thank you for the "nod" to my blog, Steve! And, thanks for strolling along through the years!

  2. Good Sunday Afternoon! I will pay Marcie a visit next. These are very enjoyable shots. I watch a live Eagle cam at Berry Univ. in Rome GA, and I whisper for them to be careful too! lol
It's interesting to me to "see" different parts of the country thru blogging.
About the trout in my post...the story goes that 100 years ago, the man and wife who lived at the mill would throw their biscuit scraps off the deck and the trout started hanging out below. Today, they have "gum ball" machines filled with fish food that you pay a quarter and throw to the trout below. They literally jump out of the water for the treat! Hope you have a nice afternoon.

  3. Swallows have been difficult to photograph but I finally go some photos of bank swallows. Love this post.

  4. Anyone who thinks Iowa is flat obviously has never been in the area of the Loess Hills. Then there are hills all over the place in other parts of the state.

  5. Fantastic selection of photographs here ...
    Thank you.

    All the best Jan

  6. I wonder what barn swallows do on date night. Maybe fly off ro a local feeder for a bite to eat

  7. The nightshade pointing fingers is an interesting bloom. I love all the birds but a bit partial to the barn swallows. I love them.

  8. Must be exciting to watch the Osprey family grow and leave the nest, though I would be nervous they might get hurt!

  9. A walk always provides some good photo opportunities.

  10. Hi Steve - I thought I was going to see walnuts ... ?! Love the nightshade fingers - that flower I've never seen before ... and wonderful others ... thanks for the stroll with you - cheers Hilary

  11. That was such a relaxing enjoyable stroll to see the blooms & birds near you.
    Enjoy your week!

  12. Some flowers I've never seen. Looks like little bananas on the nightshade.

  13. What a wonderful Sunday stroll. Gorgeous flowers and birds. Especially fun to see the juvenile ospreys. In the part of Indiana where I live, that Iowa hill would be a mountain. :)

  14. You really got some amazing shots.
The Crown looks like Bee Balm doesn't it?

  15. You live in a very Beautiful area my friend!
    Loved the visit.
Loved the dateing couple ,crown and birdfeeder pics are amazing

  16. I did not realize Night Shade had little bananas/fingers.

  17. In the first picture it looks like I'm seeing little bananas.

Keep it positive and informative,I enjoy hearing from you!
