Cold Days Have Left Us

Varied levels of ice have formed along the river banks below a dam.
A city of geese

Imagine geese by the hundreds all around, a symphony surrounds you.

I liked this eye looking out for  me
Many eyes were watching all the geese.
This Great Horned Owl was up early.

  1. Love the photos. An ice eye? That's a first. I love watching the birds. The geese at my little lake out back at the city house, has many birds. The geese usually fly out in the evening. I don't know where they go. Last night some stayed and honked all night. I don't know what was wrong. I'll have to see if I can see anything amiss when I go feed them all this morning.

  2. Hi Steve - wonderful shots .. still cold though, with lots of hungry mouths around. The weather is varying ... we're chillyish now - but will warm up again in ten days or so. It is sunny - and that's wonderful! Cheers Hilary

  5. I think the cold is coming back in a few days. The up and down makes it so hard.

  6. When I was a little girl and lived on the outskirts of Detroit, we would sometimes drive to Ontario to visit the Jack Miner Bird Sanctuary: http://www.jackminer.ca/ I remember vividly the noise and flutter of all those geese gathered together!

  8. We've had a couple of sixtyish days, accompanied by sunshine. A nice little winter intermission. Love the eye in the ice, the leaf in the ice, and what a treat to see a great horned owl!

  9. I like the way you show the geese and then the eagle. Eagles know they will find the odd dead goose and there's always dead fish washing up.

  10. The eagle and the owl I love seeing. I will also admit that the leaf under the ice is a favorite, too.

  18. Hi,

I just stopped by to thank you for coming to Marmelade Gypsy via Sandra and also to tell you how lovely your photography is. The eagle is majestic and those geese take your breath away as you see them fly. Wishing you well.
