Smiling Piggies

A content mother nursing month old piglets with a smile. Walter the dog watches closely since he has a special interest with these pigs ever since they came to the farm. These are Berkshire hogs.

  1. I love the dog watching over his charges. The asters are beautiful. Seeing those stickers on the car reminded me of a picture that a friend sent me. Two grizzly bears were standing beside a car that had the entire family represented in stickers on the back window. One bear said to the other: "Look! A menu!"

  2. Do you know that I have not seen one pig since I moved back here? I smell the pig farms as I drive by but those pigs are kept inside. Believe me I keep looking.

    1. I know what you mean. All of the CAFOs keep the poor animals inside. There was a rally at the statehouse this week to end factory farms. Let the pigs outside!! We are flooding up here in north Iowa and the amount of manure in the streams and rivers is disturbing. Free range pigs do not pollute or smell, well they do a little.

    2. I wish your pictures had audio. I would like to hear the pigs and the wind.

  4. Who doesn't love a good mom. I love the large spider art. But I bet it is a hassle to mow around. That is why I mow my grass. I don't want my flowers mowed.

  5. Hi Steve - love the Berkshires ... look so peaceful. Great prairie shots, while your friend is obviously using your good advice re her camera skills. I'm glad you use the slow method to get around - we get better photos! Cheers Hilary

  13. In that first picture I kept thinking how much that dog looked like a pig, until I looked closer and saw that it really is a pig.
