A Nice Walk

A drive takes you into the area over hill and dale, passing on both sides private land.It goes back over a mile before you arrive at the huge area of land to explore.

A frozen creek
Across the prairie.
An eagle flying away from a perch after he saw me.

A lake peeks through the trees
A giant Burr Oak

Deer prints tell me a White-tailed Buck was ahead of me running fast. The front and back legs are even, where with a doe the back would be farther outside. She would have wider hips for birthing.

  1. Hi Steve - it does look wintery ... nothing much here yet - except excessive rain in the north. The deer print is incredibly sharp .. and even with the gloom around us -there's always wonder to behold .. cheers Hilary

  2. looks wintery. cold here today. after that week of warm, almost summer, the temps plunged down into the 30s, a drop of about 40˚.

  3. That is really interesting you can tell that from the tracks. I see deer tracks all the time when running but didn't realize you could tell all that from them.

  4. Those lonely roads leading to wilderness areas are fun excursions in themselves. Beautiful photos, as always. We saw a mature bald eagle near here on Christmas. It's still an unusual sight in these parts, but getting more common. Winter has arrived here, too. We've had freezing rain this morning and are expecting strong wind gusts this afternoon. A good day to stay inside.

  5. Looks like a wonderful place to explore although maybe a bit on the chilly side.

  6. It's great to be able to go out and explore this time of year without snow.

  7. Beautiful. It makes me want to go out for a little hike right now.

  8. Nice walk indeed. We're buried under a foot here in Bluff County. Thank god for my two stage blower...:)

  9. We just got our first snowfall.. I'm hoping we're done with winter now. ;)

    Lovely pics as always.

Keep it positive and informative,I enjoy hearing from you!
