Kona, My First Day

Flying out of Denver I left a few old friends from the 70's when I lived out here and traipsed the mountains well. This is Long's Peak where I spent a great deal of time exploring around on and off the trails. We often timed our running down a section of switchbacks trying to outdo each other. We were invincible, able to do anything we wanted to try, or so we thought.

  1. Oh my gosh, you've been in Hawaii. I'm jealous... :) Your photos are beautiful. It looks heavenly! Yes, I remember those days of perceived invincibility... I miss them, too.

  3. After about 35-40 (gulp) years of hiking RMNP, Longs Peak is the only one I haven't done on the east side. Lots still to do on the Grand Lake side. The sunset and the tree with all the roots are my favorite...but hard to pick, they're all beautiful.

  4. Wow---what a gorgeous place.. Was this your first trip to Hawaii? I have never been --but hope to sometime.

My favorite picture by far is the 4th from the bottom. That one is AWESOME --and should be framed for sure.

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  5. There are wonderful sights for a little prairie boy in Hawaii. The prairie boy refers to me.

  7. Hawaii is a beautiful place. I was lucky enough to get to go as a teenager. our parents took us on a two week vacation when I was 14. we stayed with some friends of theirs. they invited me back the next year when I was 15 (why me and not my brother and sister I have no idea) but it was a great experience.

  14. How fabulous! Love all these photos. I went to the Big Island only for one day several years ago. Got to see the Volcano and walked around Hilo, but that was it. Hope to get back there one day.

    Happy Day to you Steve,
