Back In The Saddle Again

Keeping cool is hard when it has been in the 100's(40's C). I laughed at Lily laying down when she found shade yesterday. Tough being the star of the prairie when it is so hot, over 50 days of this heat.

Peek A Boo

This pool below was 8 feet higher this time last year with the Missouri River flooding and covering this stretch of highway. This year it is drying up with severe drought. You  can see the river in the top right hand corner.

It's nice to be back home

  4. Thankfully our temperatures have been hovering in the 80's. Still I haven't been venturing out too much though.

  5. You've had a rough summer. It's really hard to see water levels go so low.

  6. Always love your photos. Funny how there is too much water one year and not enough the next. Nature has a quite the sense of humor. Guess she wants to make sure we know she is in control.

  7. I hope you went easy on the horses during your ride. This heat is hard on everything. The cattle have found a way to cool down, though. I can imagine how hot Lily must get. Don't let her overdo. This heat has to break one of these days.

  8. Glad you are home, Steve... I know you enjoy your time in Nebraska --but I'll bet it is also GREAT to be home..

I'm sick about the drought in that part of the country. Sad, isn't it????

  11. I'm happy to see those animals have water. I always feel bad for them when it's hot. We don't have the heat that you do but it is in the 90's at times. The drought is so bad this year. We are finally getting a little rain now and then. Take care. Stay as cool as you can.

  13. Always great to get back home, no matter how good a time we have had isn't it? Lily and I must feel the same way about hot days, I always have to sit down when I'm out in all this heat for long. Loved the photos as always. Thanks for visiting, I thought that was poison ivy vines growing up our favorite tree.
