Mother Nature

Fingertips touching ever so briefly in the warm summer air, electricity circling through their souls. They gazed into each other’s eyes and gathered courage to hold hands, followed by a strong embrace. Lips touched and ideas soared as their happiness was shared with the sun, the moon and stars, celebrating a life enjoyed. This moment would be the start of sharing and caring, as the night entered and slowly slipped away. The passion expanded as the days changed, allowing for new interactions, yet so sensitive to a simple touch. An awakening of new thoughts and ideas were shared and carried across the land. Their happiness shouted to all the flowers, plants and denizens of the prairie to join in and enjoy life. The life you have breathed into us is such a wonderful gift. The moment may be so brief, yet carried in ones heart for an eternity.

Summer Morning

A sliver of light wakes me, a cool breeze comes through my window.  A few days of cool make one enjoy that early morning and get out to appreciate the beauty the sun offers this time of year. I go running for that sunrise shot and have worn a jacket on a few mornings. The heat returns today, but fall is just around the corner. The season has been very dry and many fields are turning gold. Over 75% of Nebraska still sits in severe drought. My two Amish Orange tomato plants at my apartment have kept me in shape carrying a bucket of water down to them daily from the second floor.

I went out to a favorite area, a new area compared to many I visit. It is fun to watch the continued growth, and hope to see new varieties become part of this area. I talked to a few people harvesting seeds and hope to help them so I can share some with this area also.It is fun to see this build more through the years. A doe bolted out ahead of me, I almost didn't see her watching all the plants on the ground. She showed me more colors offered by this sunrise and how it kissed the land with its happiness. I followed her down through a draw, but she was clear ahead of me and out of sight before I could even approach her new hiding place. I wondered if she was angry with my disturbing her rest. I moved along , my feet sodden with the morning dew. It had been a few weeks since I had visited so there was lots to see while enjoying my morning. I thanked the day and all of the residents upon my leaving , eager to share my finds with a new friend.

Bye, Bye Blackbird

Blackbird decided to leave and headed south. It would be a gentle move following his favorite selection of insects. As I sat near the lake I had forgotten my friend until I listened for his song. It had blended with a song, a distant chant perhaps that carried the story of happiness found on this beautiful land. It whispered and sometimes shouted to all who listen. Its roar could be heard in passing storms, reminding all of the strength possessed within this spiritual call carried on that prairie wind. This happiness swirled and encapsulated him in its magical charm. He soared off within his thoughts and became a part of this beautiful land. Thoughts and ideas blended into the distant hills and gave the land a hug. He listened again for the Red-winged Blackbird, but never found its song.

County Fair

The queens always get in each shot

I  could not pass this up, it just looked like I should be part of this fun. I laughed later seeing a couple of boys watching me as I set my timer and ran into the picture.

The county fairs are a starting point to show agriculture projects and hope to win a standing to go to state fair.It is a big thing in all the 99 counties in Iowa and fun to see what industrious kids we have in the state.Temps were unbearable, but the fun  makes it more bearable.I have purchased a number of projects and always enjoy going to many of them around me.

A Simple Picnic

 A spread left behind
A reminder of a good spread
Shared by others
Out on the prairie.

Of course one needs a few rib eye steaks, note one almost devoured before it hit a plate.
