A Day To Remember

A blogging friend asked if I wanted to get together for a day at Desota National Wildlife Refuge, which is near where she lives. Nancy, of a Rural Journal, has been a friend for quite some time and it was fun to finally meet. As bloggers we all have shared parts of our lives and it was as if we had been around each other many times before. It was a day of sharing and caring, the area we went to is recovering from a massive flood of the Missouri River all last summer.

For those of you not familiar with this area it is a huge bend in the river that was left when the river was channeled for barge traffic. It's beauty is magnificent, even after being destroyed by Mother Nature and man. Bird and waterfowl migration is still a plus when one visits here. It is hard to take in the hundreds of acres in just a day, but we were able to enjoy a big part before the hot sun baked us. We explored, shared thoughts and ideas that melded into a positive attraction for nature and photography. I had hoped to have my new camera, but haven't received it yet, so took a well known friendly point and shoot. The day began with my receiving some lovely gifts:  homemade soaps, a lovely print of Nancy's , and little Lily even got a package that she got to open later that day. I was beyond words to have gotten such nice gifts on top of meeting a very lovely friend. It will be a day to remember, out on the prairie.

In the second frog picture it looks as though a snake is about to strike.
