Speaking Softly

Walking softly, listening to soothing tones of the snow covering my world.

Being the first footprints in the snow is always so treasured for me. I have seen what others haven't seen. A first in the new world, set in an old world out on the prairie.

 Snow falls gently down
Kissing me on the cheek
Often it has slipped in during the night
Ever so softly and meek.

I like to be the first footprints
When the snow is just new.

  1. Steve, wonderful photos and I'm like you, there is nothing like being the very first person to make your mark in perfectly formed snow scapes....

  3. I have yet to enjoy seeing my footprints in the snow this winter. Love this post Steve, the words, the photos, and especially loved the last but one of the reflection of trees, all beautiful shots!

  4. Love it, Steve.... I want to be the first footprints in the snow!!!! I also love to look for wildlife prints in the snow... SO much fun.. BUT--since I've mentioned it many times, we just haven't gotten much snow here at all this winter. Sigh!!!!! I am certainly enjoying seeing pictures like yours though.. Thanks.

  5. Beautiful sequence of pictures. I agree completely. There is something soothing about being first after a morning snowfall.... as long as the wind isn't howling and it's -25 degrees...

  9. I love the look of snow before anything had marred it, and I even hate to be the one to do it. I really liked the picture of the reflection of the trees in the water. Very nice.

  13. It sure is pretty and even more so than when it's in my yard :) I've always loved seeing the snow before anyone gets to it. Once you get a bunch of tracks running through it it's not quite as pretty

  16. I always like being the first footprints in the snow too. It looks so clean and fresh when nobody has been there, but I like at least my tracks there.

  19. Way too many favorites in there. So captures the cold for me. (Maybe I lived in the snow for too long.) Beautiful, though. Truly.

  23. Steve, you are making me envious cause you get to go out and play in that fluffy white stuff. We are really missing it here as are a lot of other folks. So thanks for letting us know that some areas are enjoying winter.
