A Breath Of Fresh Air

Look how the colors change from the back up above and front below on this Tiger Swallowtail.

Have you ever made pink lemonade with sumac blooms and honey?

 Culver's Root

Compass plant orients its leaves to the east and west for keeping cool and helps you tell direction.

 A new baby Belgium

I shared a prayer for health and happiness
For each of you today
While I looked over some flowers
They  began to smile and say
Be happy to have so many friends
And share with them all you have to say
It will be shared on a gentle wind
Out on the prairie.

  1. Thank you, Steve! What a loving gesture. I have not made the lemonade, but have picked them for "bouquets." They last for a very long time. :) That baby Belgium just makes me go, 'Oooohhh.' What a cutie-pie.

  2. Some very impressive bugs, and equally impressive flowers. I have to mention how much I like the milkweed. And the horse.

  3. This is such a beautiful set of photos, Steve. You amaze me with your ability to get such good shots of the flying insects. I love the second image, where it looks as if the bug is performing acrobatics on the leaf.

  13. Ahhh, Steve, love the photos of the flowers but am surprised they look that good. Even though I water immensely, our still look so wilted. I hope they brighten up soon. Actually I hope we get some rain soon...a nice steady all day long rain!
love the sky photo of the previous post! beautiful!

  17. I just love all your wildflowers! (I'd love to have some culvers root seed???!!! It has been so very hot here in Indiana my milkweed is looking pretty bad. I so wish it would rain! I guess i'll have to water it? Do you know much about Black Swallowtail caterpillars? I finally started getting some. I'm alittle worried about them. They are like sticking their heads up away from the host plant. Is this normal behavior ? Are they sunning? or hot? or?????

  19. The black swallowtail cats eat parsley, dill and queen anne's lace. Oh, and fennel. I had some qa lace come up and have tons on it. I was able to post a picture of two of them on the qa lace if you want to check it out. (i'm serious about seeds if you want to send some?????) I'd love them and take care of them...
